On Friday, November 23, 2018, Little Chinese Digital Culture Ambassadors visit Rwanda Embassy in Beijing. The objective of the visit was to learn more about Rwanda’s culture and diplomatic career experience among others things.

The event is part of cultural cooperation between the Embassy and Little Chinese Digital Culture Ambassadors in Beijing. The little Ambassador’s program promotes cultural awareness by bringing the world to Chinese children and taking Chinese culture to children other countries all over the world.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Augustin Buregeya, the embassy First Secretary described to the young participants the history and the geographical characteristics of Rwanda. His briefing was accompanied by videos and pictures that showed the magnificent scenery of mountainous which makes Rwanda known as “the land of a thousand hills”

“Rwanda is beautiful country and has many different attractions that many people around the world like to visit. Chinese tourists are also among the tourists who visit Rwanda,” the diplomat said.  

“You no longer need to come to the embassy to apply for a visa, since all citizens of the world including you here ‘Little Chinese Digital Culture Ambassadors’ can go to Rwanda and get visa on arrival,” the diplomat added.

The Little Chinese Digital Culture Ambassadors were given opportunity to interact with embassy diplomats by asking different questions and drawing art crafts together.

 “The Chinese best favorite food is dumplings, what is the Rwanda’s best favorite food,” Little diplomat asked. Rwanda’s favorite food are beans and sorghum posho”.  

The little diplomats also showed different cultural skills and customs like playing the digital piano and Beijing opera, a Chinese music style, which combines music, vocal performance, mime, dance and acrobatics.

“It is a great pleasure to be here today, our little diplomats have learnt about Rwanda and different cultural customs from the session of interaction. They will be our Ambassador representatives in the future,” Mr. Liu Hongli, the digital Ambassador Program General Secretary said.

The event concluded with gift sharing between the Embassy diplomats and Little Chinese Digital Culture Ambassadors.
