Kwibuka32 Commemorative Events Held in Nanjing and Wuhan
Members of the Rwandan community and friends of Rwanda from Changzhou, Hefei, Huai’an, Nanjing, Wuxi, Zhenjiang, Wuhan, Nanchang, Yichang, and Xinyu held the 32nd commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda (Kwibuka32).
The events were held in Nanjing and Wuhan cities, during which representatives of the Embassy joined the respective communities. The commemorations provided a moment for reflection on Rwanda’s history, resilience, and the enduring importance of remembrance, while reaffirming a shared commitment to rejecting genocide ideology and denial.
The Embassy officials who attended the events at both locations underscored the critical role of Rwandans living abroad in preserving the memory of the Genocide against the Tutsi and promoting its remembrance worldwide. They urged the communities to learn lessons from the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi to ensure genocide never happens again anywhere in the world.
For their part, Rwandans living in different cities reaffirmed their commitment to honoring the memory of the victims and to working collectively to combat genocide ideology, denial, foster unity, and contribute to national development.
