On 8^th March 2026, members of the Rwandan Community in China gathered virtually to celebrate International Women’s Day. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the vital role of women in national development and to highlight initiatives that promote women’s empowerment and gender equality. 

Addressing participants, Ambassador James Kimonyo commended the pivotal role of women in Rwanda’s transformation. He noted that strong policies and regulatory frameworks have helped unlock women’s potential and significantly increase their representation at all levels of leadership.

Guest speaker Dr. Noella Karemera from the University of Rwanda  reflected on her educational journey, underscoring women’s resilience and capacity to overcome challenges, and highlighting the transformative impact of women’s empowerment on Rwanda’s development. She encouraged members of the Rwandan Community in China (RCA China) to leverage opportunities in China with passion and commitment, contributing both to their personal growth and to Rwanda’s continued progress.
