Speaking at the event, Ambassador James Kimonyo highlighted the historical significance of Liberation Day, emphasizing that it is not merely a commemoration of military victory, but also a celebration of the extraordinary resilience, determination, and vision that enabled Rwanda to rise, rebuild and thrive guided by the visionary leadership of H.E. He paid tribute to the heroes and heroines who fought courageously and selflessly, some of whom paid the ultimate price to liberate our nation and expressed deepest appreciation to foreign individuals and countries who stood with Rwanda during this struggle.
"Over the last three decades, Rwanda has made tremendous progress in good governance and democratic governance, justice, security, gender equality, education, universal health coverage, the fight against corruption, and the empowerment of women and youth, among other areas. These achievements have been guided by three fundamental choices: Unity, Accountability, and Thinking Big," the Ambassador stated.
The Ambassador expressed appreciation to partner countries and international organizations for their steadfast friendship and invaluable contributions to Rwanda's development journey and particularly highlighted the excellent bilateral relations between the Republic of Rwanda and the People's Republic of China, which this year marks 55 years of diplomatic ties.
On behalf of the Chinese Government, Ambassador Liu Xianfa, the Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs, praised Rwanda’s transformation in the last three decades.
