After its official opening at the Radisson Blu Hotel, last Saturday, the 12th edition of the Rwanda Film Festival returned with yet a new twist. It was celebrated in Chinese style during an evening event dubbed, the “Chinese Focus Day film show” at the Chinese Embassy.

The event, which was organized by the Chinese Embassy in partnership with the Rwanda Film Festival, was a show of Chinese culture.

The event kicked off at 6Pm, with speeches from both the Rwanda Film Festival and the Chinese embassy officials.

Entertainment then followed with performances before the movie of the night was screened- titled Monster Hunt, it was a mid-2015 release that broke several box office records in China.

Guests experienced a touch of versatility, as the movie took on various aspects ranging from magic, action, comedy and adventure.

The Rwanda Film Festival started on July 23 and ends today on July 30, during which free public screenings are held in multiple locations in Kigali as well as in Rubavu and Rwamagana districts.

Mr. Zhang Wenping, the director of political section in the Chinese embassy said that the event will not only promote relations between Rwanda and China, but will also spur the growth of the local film industry, especially concerning the aspect of writing and production.
