Ambassador Kimonyo Urged Youth to Work Together to Build the Rwanda We Want
On 1st May 2023, the Embassy of Rwanda to China organized an event bringing together the Rwandan community in the cities of Beijing and Tianjin.
The event included a sports activity and a meeting with H.E James Kimonyo, the Rwandan Ambassador to China, which centred on leveraging the diaspora's potential to contribute to national development and utilizing social media to share Rwanda's authentic stories.
During the meeting, the Ambassador highlighted the importance of education and hard work for the development of the country urging the community to continue striving for excellence and working together towards a brighter future for the Rwanda We Want.
The envoy reminded the audience that the country is still observing the 100 days of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi commemorative activities and expressed gratitude to the Rwandan Community living in China for their efforts in conducting commemorative events in various cities.
He encouraged the community to utilize social media platforms to combat the spread of genocide denial. “You must use social media tools and counteract those who spread untrue stories with the aim of promoting the genocide ideology.”
The event was highly appreciated by the Rwandan Community living in Beijing and Tianjin, who highlighted the significance of organizing social activities and events between Rwandan communities living in different of parts China.
