Chinese Couple Calls the World to visit the Mountain Gorillas

On June 2nd, the Chinese Internet Celebrities couple, Mr. Zhang XinYu and Ms. Liang Hong with the support of the Government of Rwanda visited the Volcanoes National Part in the Northern Province of Rwanda and held an activity calling the world to support the conservation and protection efforts for the endangered Mountain Gorillas.

At the Volcanoes National Park, the Chinese team worked with the park rangers to lay down 3000 solar lamps on a 6400-square-meter field resulting. The resultant image when captured by a drone shows a mountain gorilla surrounded by two olive branches. The purpose of this artwork was to call the world to pay more attention to the conservation efforts done by the Government of Rwanda and to encourage more people to visit the majestic mountain gorillas.

The World Wildlife Fund estimates that there are only about 1000 mountain gorillas in the whole world. Their numbers are increasing thanks to the efforts by the Government of Rwanda, a country which is home to more than two third of the remaining gorillas’ population.

Mr. Zhang XinYu and Ms. Liang Hong said that visiting the mountain gorillas is a life changing experience. After their return to Beijing, His Excellency Ambassador Charles Kayonga thanked the couple for their efforts in creating more awareness and letting more Chinese people know the rare natural attractions in Rwanda. “We hope that in the future more Chinese will be able to travel to Rwanda, learn more about the mountain gorillas and enjoy the beautiful sceneries of Remarkable Rwanda”, the Ambassador said.
