Embassy Participated in the China -Africa Investment Cooperation Seminar 2019, Xiamen

On 08th September 2019, Embassy of Rwanda to China participated in the China-Africa Investment Cooperation Seminar 2019 in Xiamen.

Sponsored by China Council for International Investment Promotion (CCIIP), China-Africa Investment Cooperation Seminar is among other major components of China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT).

Approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China, CIFIT takes place in September every year in Xiamen, China attracts different African diplomats, representatives of international organizations, business leaders and local authorities to exchange views on facilitating bilateral investment.

Themed on ‘Introducing FDI’ and ‘Going Global’, CIFIT focuses on nationality and internationality, investment negotiation and investment policy promotion, coordinated development of national and regional economy, as well as economic and trade exchanges across the Taiwan Strait.

Speaking at the Seminar, along with other African diplomats and business leaders, the Embassy Chargé d'affaires a.i, Mr. Virgile Rwanyagatare gave an investment presentation about Rwanda and attracted business companies and people to invest in Rwanda. The diplomat added that, Rwanda has made it easy to do business.

“Rwanda is also a home to major conferences taking place on the continent, this is largely due to the success of the Rwanda MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) strategy put in place by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) in order to boost the country’s tourism sector,” the diplomat noted.

Addressing the participants, Mr. Chen Jian, the former Vice Minister of Ministry of Commerce of China and Co-Chair of the advisory committee of experts of CCIIP praised the CIFIT as the opportunity for business people at home and abroad to get an overview of the investment climates in China and other countries.
