Embassy Participated in the Guangzhou International Travel Fair 2018

From 01st March to 03rd March 2018, Rwanda Embassy participated in the Guangzhou International Travel Fair 2018 Exhibition in southern China, Guangdong province.

Organized by the Tourism Administration of Guangzhou Municipality, Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF) is the earliest large-scale international tourism exhibition in China with the longest history, and it is one of the most influential travel fairs in China, focusing on outbound and inbound travel and Meetings Incentives Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE). For the 25th time, GITF was successfully held at China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex, Guangzhou, bringing together government institutions and travel agencies from all over the world.

The Government high officials, including Vice Secretary General of the People’s Government of Guangzhou Municipality Mr. Zhang Jianhua among others, the Minister of the Panama Tourism, Excellency Gustavo Him, the Director General of Guangzhou Tourism Bureau Ms. Liu Yumei and Foreign General Consulates in Guangzhou attended the opening ceremony.

“Indeed it is our first time to attend the GITF, and I think this is a very good platform to showcase Rwanda’s tourist attractions to China and the whole world” Mr. Samuel Abikunda, Embassy Commercial Attaché revealed while speaking to the media. Rwanda is a very safe country, ranked among the top destinations in the world with magnificent tourist attractions, a very profound culture and friendly people, he added. 

The cultural inspiration attracted many visitors who enjoyed traditional dance performance by Rwandan dance group from Beijing in addition to a magnificent stand serving Rwanda coffee and tea and showcasing made in Rwanda products.

Embassy also used the opportunity to promote RwandAir, Rwanda’s national carrier which will soon start flights to Guangzhou, China. “RwandAir flights will facilitate business investment and tourism” said Mr. Paul Guo, the Chief Representative of RwandAir in Guangzhou. Rwanda and China have been enjoying good business connection between local businesses through importation and exportation of goods to and from China. The flight will increase the number of tourists and business to business partnership, Paul Guo added.

Ms. Liu Yumei, Director General of Guangzhou Tourism Municipality visited Rwanda booth and thanked the Embassy for participating in GITF 2018 and for the amazing cultural dance performance. “We are pledged to work together with Rwanda to promote tourism and increase the number of Chinese tourists who visit Rwanda, I wish you success”, Ms. Liu added.
