First Shipment of Dried Chili from Rwanda Arrived in Hunan, China
On 4th August 2021, Rwanda’s Ambassador to China, James Kimonyo virtually joined leaders of the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, Changsha Customs and GK International Enterprises to welcome the first shipment of dried chili exported from Rwanda to China.
Speaking during the event the Ambassador thanked the government of the People’s Republic of China for opening the Chinese market for Rwandan products and added that Rwanda looks forward to deepening economic cooperation with China and Hunan Province in particular.
This is a good progress following the signing of the protocol to export dried chili to China between the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources of Rwanda and the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China in March.
Under the guidance of the General Administration of Customs, Changsha Customs have actively coordinated with other directly affiliated customs to issue an entry inspection and quarantine certificate of dried chili from Rwanda.
The addition of dried chili to Rwandan products allowed into the Chinese market is a big win for Rwandan chili growers as China is the biggest consumer of chili in the world.
