Made in Rwanda Products Promoted in the China International Supply Chain Expo

The Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in the People’s Republic of China showcased products from Rwanda including specialty coffee, honey, chili, and handcrafts in the Second China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) held in Beijing from 26th to 30th 2024.

Organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), CISCE is the world's first exhibition dedicated to supply chains, serving as a platform to connect upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors, fostering global collaboration and innovation across industries.

Speaking to the media, Rwanda’s Ambassador to China, H.E. James Kimonyo, emphasized the importance of Rwanda’s participation in the CISCE.

“Our participation in the CISCE is not only aimed at showcasing Rwandan products to the Chinese audience but also at establishing connections with other Chinese and global exhibitors. We hope to learn from their advanced technologies to enhance the presence of Rwandan products in the Chinese market,” the Ambassador said.

On the second day of the expo, Ambassador Kimonyo was joined by Dr. Yin Ye, Chief Executive Officer of the Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI) Group and a prominent social media influencer, to market and promote Rwandan products.

Over the past years, the Ambassador noted, Rwandan products have gained significant popularity through Chinese e-commerce platforms such as Taobao, Tmall, and live streaming. With the help of digital technology, Rwandan companies now have better access to the Chinese market, creating more opportunities to sell high-quality products. This success, he added, is largely attributed to the support plans formulated by the Chinese government.

The Ambassador further emphasized that the preferential policies extended to African countries including Rwanda are highly inclusive to make full use of China’s vast market.
