Press Release: “Meet Rwanda in China” Event to Be Held on 1–2 August 2025 in Wuhan
The Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda to the People’s Republic of China, in collaboration with the Rwandan community residing in China, is organizing the event titled “Meet Rwanda in China”, scheduled to take place from 1 to 2 August 2025 in Wuhan.
The "Meet Rwanda in China" is a flagship event designed to showcase Rwanda’s progress, with a main focus on the immense investment opportunities, promoting Made in Rwanda products, tourist attractions, and cultural exchanges.
The event will bring together the vibrant Rwandan Community in China, private companies, traders, members of academia, tour operators, cultural organizations, representatives of business associations, the media, and friends of Rwanda.
This event, which will take place periodically, serves as an excellent diaspora mobilization opportunity and a platform for in-depth discussions between Rwandan officials and Chinese enterprises on available opportunities in priority sectors, as well as business matchmaking sessions. It will also be an ample opportunity to showcase Rwanda’s rich cultural heritage.
This year’s inaugural edition will take place on 1st and 2nd August 2025 in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province in central China. The program will feature a high-level business forum organized in partnership with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). The forum will attract approximately 200 companies from various sectors across China, providing them with an opportunity to learn about Rwanda’s business environment, investment prospects, and high-quality Made in Rwanda products. With China leading other countries in foreign direct investment (FDI) registered in Rwanda and exports to this important market increasing annually, the event will serve as a platform to attract more investors and expand market opportunities for Rwandan products. The event will also highlight Rwanda’s growing tourism sector, positioning the country as a unique destination for Chinese travelers.
This year’s event coincides with Rwanda’s Umuganura, the national thanksgiving day and harvest celebration that is deeply rooted in Rwandan history and cultural identity. As such, Meet Rwanda in China will also serve as an occasion to promote Rwanda’s rich cultural heritage. The program will include performances of traditional dance and music, cultural storytelling, ibisakuzo (riddles), guha abana amata (serving milk to children), and games like kubuguza, showcasing Rwandan traditions to an international audience.
Sports competitions will be another highlight of the event, fostering a sense of community and celebrating Rwanda’s youth, who make up over 95% of the Rwandan Community living in China (RCA China), predominantly students. Through these engagements, participants will not only celebrate their shared heritage but will also reflect on Rwanda’s core values of unity, accountability, and thinking big.
The Meet Rwanda in China event is more than a celebration; it is a call for collective action, mobilizing all Rwandans living in China to further contribute to national development by exploring avenues for investment, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer. It also serves as an opportunity to further strengthen people-to-people ties between Rwanda and China, reinforcing the ever-flourishing relations between the two countries, in line with the broader vision of building a community with a shared future. By showcasing Rwanda’s journey of transformation and its development goals under Vision 2050, this gathering underscores Rwanda’s readiness to engage with partners who share its aspiration for sustainable development, prosperity, and innovation.
