Rwanda Aims to be the Best Tourism Destination in Africa

On the evening of 21 June 2019, Rwanda Convention Bureau in partnership with the Embassy of Rwanda to China held a forum to promote Rwanda as a preferred Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) destination in Africa.

The forum is part of strategy of attracting key players in Meeting, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE). The objective is to make Kigali a top destination for meetings and conferences, and a tourism hub on the continent.

The forum attracted officials from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in China, Chinese in MICE, and tourism companies among others.

At the event, Frank Murangwa, the Director of Destination Marketing at Rwanda Convention Bureau told the Chinese business operators and players in the tourism industry that Rwanda is one of the safest and easiest places to do business in Africa and aims to be the best destination in Africa.

While delivering his speech, Ambassador Charles Kayonga invited Chinese key players in MICE to visit and invest in Rwanda saying that Rwanda and China share many aspects of culture.   Quoting President Xi Jinping in his speech last year in Rwanda, Ambassador Kayonga reiterated that the relationship between China and Rwanda is the epitome of relations between China and Africa. He told the audience that China has listed Rwanda among the most preferred destinations to be visited by Chinese citizens.

At the event, Eduard Yin, Chairman of Rwanda Chinese Association and a businessman who operates a Chinese restaurant in Kigali and a tourism agency, commended Rwandans hospitality and uniqueness.

“When you visit Rwanda, I am sure you will love the uniqueness of the country as well as the hospitality of the citizens. There are opportunities in various sectors such as tourism, agricultural, mining, among others, which Chinese investors can tap into,” Yin said.
