Rwanda Business Reforms have Attracted Investments – Ambassador Kimonyo

On Tuesday, 10 December 2019, Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda to the People’s Republic of China hosted a group of Chinese investors and members of the Council for Promoting South-South Cooperation.

In his speech, Ambassador James Kimonyo said that, Rwanda and China enjoy good bilateral relationship and this good relationship has created many opportunities for Chinese companies in business, trade and investment.  

 “Rwanda has adopted reforms improving the business environment in order to create a conducive investment climate for both foreign and domestic investors,” the envoy said adding that, Rwanda has been ranking among the top global reformers in the World Bank Doing Business Report.

According to the World Bank Doing Business, latest report, Rwanda ranks the second easiest place to do business in Africa.

On behalf of the Chinese group, Mr. Wang Huagen, the Vice Chairman of the Council for Promoting South-South Cooperation thanked the Ambassador for the opportunity to know more about doing business in Rwanda.

“Thank you for the detailed information you provided, the Council for Promoting South-South Cooperation (CPSSC) will continue to work with the Embassy to further promote the relationship in business as well as in other fields between China and Rwanda. We hope to organize a business delegation of our members to visit Rwanda in the near future,” Wang said.

According to National Institute of Statistics, Rwanda business reforms have attracted more Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), contributing to the growth of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Rwanda's GDP grew by 11.9 percent in the third quarter of 2019 compared to the same quarter in 2018.
