Rwanda Community in China Commemorated Heroes Day

On 1 February 2019, Rwanda community in China commemorated the 25th Heroes Day. The event was held in different cities of China.

The community from Beijing and surrounding areas commemorated the 25th heroes day at the Embassy of Rwanda to China.

Speaking during the event, His Excellency Ambassador Charles Kayonga urged the community at the event to embrace heroism by spearheading the country’s development agenda. He told the youth that the year’s theme ‘Sustaining heroism in the vision we have chosen’, inspired them to maintain the highest values of patriotism and sacrifice for the wellbeing of your country. He reminded in particular the students pursuing their studies in China, of their role in nation building, saying that they should work hard in everything they do and always have their country at heart, just like the heroes being celebrated.

“You are here in China as students, don’t take the opportunity for granted, you are here because our heroes paid with their lives for us to enjoy such opportunities. If they gave their lives for us to have a country for which everyone is proud. The least you can do is to work hard and ensure that country develops, and faster,” Ambassador said.

The Ambassador further said that, without the continuity of the tradition of heroism, we can’t preserve what we have achieved nor achieve what we have resolved to achieve like unity, peace, security, democracy and development.

The community leaders from different cities praised the integrity, patriotism and sacrifice that characterized the heroes we commemorate and urged audiences to maintain the heroes’ resilience and courage.

Shenyang, Chengdu, Fuzhou, Urumqi, Lanzhou and Changzhou are among other cities where the Rwandan communities came together to celebrate the heroes day. In these cities and many other places the youths were reminded that they are the strength of the nation and must work hard, think big and move away from any distractions that may lead to failure.
