Rwanda Targets More Cooperation with Hunan Companies
From 27th to 29th July 2022, the Embassy of Rwanda to China participated in a series of promotion events which were held in Changsha City, Hunan Province. The events which included the Promotion Conference for China (Hunan) - Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation and a visit to the Pilot Zone for In-depth China - Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation were organized by the People's Government of Hunan Province and Hunan Department of Commerce.
Speaking to the media, the Embassy’s Commercial Attaché, Mr. Samuel Abikunda said that events like this are yet another opportunity to deepen cooperation with Hunan Province in various sectors including investment, trade, science and technology, health, tourism and education among others.
He shared some highlights about what makes Rwanda an excellent destination including fast business registration (6 hours), convenient property and tax registration which can be done online and no restrictions on foreign ownership and capital flows.
He added that Rwanda’s new investment law provides a package of incentives based on the nature and amount of investment and invited Chinese companies to visit Rwanda soon and explore more investment and trade opportunities.
Rwanda has a special relationship with Hunan Province, not only limited at the Government level but also with the people and the enterprises of Hunan who in recent years have been establishing business ties with Rwandan companies in investment and trade.
In 2021, the City of Kigali and Hunan Province signed a Letter of Intent on the Establishment of Friendship Relationships with the aim to further promote people-to-people friendly exchanges as well as economic and trade interflows between the two sides.
