Rwanda Welcomes Chinese Investment in the Tea Sector
On 21 May 2022, Hon. Gerardine Mukeshimana, the Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources virtually delivered a speech during the opening ceremony of an event celebrating the 3rd International Tea Day which was held in Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province.
This event was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China together with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization with the aim to promote development and deepen cooperation in the tea industry.
In her remarks, the Minister shared insights about Rwanda’s and said that the Government of Rwanda will continue to strengthen cooperation with China in production and processing of tea and learn from each other the best practices in this sector.
She invited companies from all over the world and Chinese companies in particular to invest in Rwanda’s tea sector and encouraged Chinese consumers to purchase Rwandan tea which is already available on Chinese e-commerce platforms.
