Rwandan Community in China Mark Heroes’ Day
On 1st February 2021, Rwandan Community in China through virtual meeting joined the rest of the world to mark the 27th Heroes’ Day celebrations. The event, was conducted online due to the global pandemic outbreak.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Theogene Kalinamaryo, the guest speaker expressed the gratitude to the Rwandan men and women who exemplified and sacrificed for the wellbeing of the country.
“Being a hero doesn’t have anything to do with age,” Kalinamaryo told the audience, majority of the youth studying in China.
“The characters of the heroes we cerebrate today, should be emulated at all levels. The country was liberated by the youth during the liberation struggle that ended the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The struggle for you and the next generation to come, is to ensure that the country develops more than it achieved in the past,” Kalinamaryo noted.
Moreover during the ceremony, the Rwandan Community in China were urged to use technology and contribute for the country’s national development towards social economic development, fight against the genocide ideology and corruption among others. The role of technology, including mobile applications remains crucial in different sectors as Rwanda stays in a process of transformation.
Among those who attended the event had the opportunity to share their views and praised the patriotism , sacrifice that characterized the Rwandan heroes and committed to maintain the good examples set by the heroes.
Beneyo Emmerance Nteziyaremye, the Vice President of the Rwandan Community in China echoed the use of technology, “we are the right people to speak the truth because of our exposure to technology,” she said, adding that none of us should fear to speak the truth but rather endeavour to get actual information from different sources where necessary.
