Rwanda Speciality Coffee Showcased in Chengdu

From 14th to 16th January 2022, Rwanda’s speciality coffee is being showcased at Rwanda Coffee Flash Event that is underway in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

The event is organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in China in partnership with Shanghai Wangda Zhongbang Culture Communication, a service-oriented company focusing on promoting economic trade, cultural and tourism exchanges between China and Africa owned by Shanghai Jifu Industrical Co., Ltd.

Several coffee buyers and owners of coffee shops in Chengdu are attending the event aiming to enhance Chinese consumers' understanding of Rwanda, and promoting awareness of Rwandan coffee in China.

On the sidelines of the event, the Embassy is holding meetings with key stakeholders in Chengdu’s food industry especially coffee buyers.

In his speech, Ambassador James Kimonyo said that the Rwanda Coffee Flash Event is yet another opportunity to not only let Chinese coffee lovers learn more about Rwanda's speciality coffee  but also get to know more about the country's image, culture, business environment and investment opportunities. He added that Rwanda looks forward to strengthening cooperation with Sichuan province and Chengdu city in particular.

Coffee farming is an important agricultural industry in Rwanda that plays a major role in the economy of the country and contributes significantly to foreign exchange agricultural export. Rwandan coffee farmers have found sustainable livelihood passionately cultivating specialty coffee that offers beautiful floral progress mixed with a complex berry and fruity flavor.
