Visit To Lianyugang Port City of Jiangsu Province

On 14th November 2016 Ambassador Lt Gen Charles Kayonga accompanied by the Second Counselor traveled to Lianyungang port city of Jiangsu province to attend the China Silk Road International Logistic Expo.

The event was attended by Government High Officials from China and abroad. Lianyungang is located in the middle part of China’s coastline and its position is of strategic importance in connecting north to south and east to west. In line with the China’s Belt and Road initiative” Jiangsu province is implementation the plan to develop Lianyungang as a hub city along the New Eurasian Land Bridge economic corridor.

During the Exposition, Ambassador Charles had the opportunity to meet Provincial leaders including Mr Yang Xingshi, Party Secretary of Lianyungang Committee of CPC, Mr Xiang Xuelong, Mayor of Lianyugang Municipal People’s Government among Others. They exchanged views on both countries continued good relations. The Ambassador had opportunity to illustrate the similarity between Jiangsu and Rwanda.

Like Jiangsu, Rwanda is also crucial to the future development of the Silk Road and Economic Belt in the heart of Africa since it is located at the meeting point between the Eastern and the Central regions of Africa. He encouraged the business community to take advantage of the excellent business environment in Rwanda and the market access to the 150 million population of East Africa and invest in Rwanda and the region of East Africa.
